“Independent. Versatile. Creative. Adaptable.”
Angie (they/them) is an independent, in-demand freelance musician & music educator based in Port Townsend, Washington.
Performer:
Angie is known for being highly versatile & adaptable, creative & solid - yet willing to lean into or even incite the unexpected. Angie typically maintains an active performing schedule as a leader and side musician in jazz & Caribbean groups, rock & pop bands, musical theater productions & symphony orchestras. Recently, Angie has been taking on less gigs to leave room for professional development - a modified sabbatical to focus on Brazilian music & composing.
Before moving to the PNW, Angie worked for two decades as a professional musician in Southern California, performing and recording with jazz, Caribbean rock & pop acts, original artists, tribute bands and cover bands, as well as accompanying choral groups, performing as a pit musician for musicals and touring with a variety of musical acts.
Educator:
A dedicated educator, Angie loves sharing their passion & knowledge of music. Angie has been providing music instruction and mentorship on drum set, percussion & steelpans for 30 years. Angie has been honored to be amongst the Artist Faculty for Centrum Foundation’s Youth Programs, providing a week-long intensive Trinidadian Steelband Band experience, and has also taught a summer program for Peninsula College in Port Angeles, WA.
Before relocating to the PNW from Southern California, Angie was adjunct faculty at Norco College, teaching History of Rock and Roll, Music Appreciation, Applied Lessons and directing the Commercial Music Ensemble. They worked on a movie set, composed an original composition for a scene in the movie, coached the actress who "drum synced" to the piece, and acted as a hand double for close-up shots.
Angie earned a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance (CSU, Long Beach) and Master of Music in Percussion Performance (U. of Northern Colorado, Greeley).
